At Bach to Rock, we’ve assembled an amazing team of music teachers! Our instructors include classically trained musicians, as well as working professionals who tour and record with major artists. Meet our owners, our behind-the-scenes talent, and our music teachers for piano, guitar, drums, voice, and more!

Andy Flickner

Andy Flickner - Andy Flickner is owner of Bach to Rock Carmel as well as an instructor for piano and guitar lessons. Andy began his instrument training at the age of 8, later going on to study music with David Kaiserman at the University of Louisville. Kaiserman was himself a student of Sascha Gorodnitski at The Juilliard and ultimately retired as chair of the Piano Department at Northwestern University. Being a pragmatic artist, Andy decided to pursue studies in electrical engineering and received both his bachelors and masters from Purdue University. Andy continued to study music throughout his 25-year career with R&D Engineering and Management, where he earned six US patents. He and his son, Stephen, formed a duo and regularly perform in local venues. Andy is a passionate piano and guitar player and is grateful for the ability to share his talents and knowledge with his many students at B2R. With his wife and business partner, Jennifer, at his side, Andy cultivates an energized and joyful learning environment for everyone at B2R.

Jennifer Flickner

Jennifer Flickner - Jennifer Flickner is owner and director of Bach to Rock Carmel and is loving every musical moment. Having graduated from Purdue University with a degree in elementary education, Jennifer has a strong background in teaching little ones and doing administrative work. Jennifer spent 8 years teaching in Pike Township, before taking time off to raise her four wonderful children. She later took a position at University High School, where she focuses on event planning as a part of the Admissions Office staff. Jennifer’s background in education, helps her to provide guidance and training to all staff members at B2R in the best pedagogical practices for teaching the varying ages of students we serve. In an effort to make sure all students and staff have a wonderful experience, Jennifer spends each day ensuring B2R is well-organized and smoothly operated.

Kirby Flowers

Kirby Flowers - Kirby currently serves as the Co-Director of Bach to Rock Carmel. Kirby earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy from Ohio University in 2019 and is a board-certified music therapist. Kirby has extensive vocal training and choral experience. In addition to his musical and therapy backgrounds, he brings a wealth of retail service experience to BachToRock.

Katy Myers

Katy Myers - Katy M. has a degree in Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and has been working in music school management for the last three years. Katy is a classically trained cellist and played the cello in rock bands for 15+ years. She has shared the stage with bands like The Lumineers, Grouplove, Low, and Walk the Moon. Now she is learning the electric bass, taking vocal lessons, and enjoying being a musical "beginner" again in a B2R band! Katy is joining the B2R team as Assistant Director, focusing on band building and events.

Stephen Weigel

Stephen Weigel - Stephen W. graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s in Music Media Production and a Master of Music in Composition. During his time at Ball State, he spent time teaching his own undergraduate course in music theory and worked to create ear training software. Stephen is a nationally recognized expert in music theory, who has spent time presenting at multiple national conferences. He joins us at B2R as a piano and guitar instructor.

Chloé P

Chloé P - Chloe P. graduated from Ball State School of Music with her degree in music education in 2023. Chloe has been playing the French horn for just over 10 years and plays around the Indianapolis area. Before she began working at Bach to Rock Chloe worked with the Tipton High School Marching Band as a visual caption head and student taught at Avon Intermediate School West. Chloe joins the B2R Carmel team as an early childhood, piano, and French horn instructor.

Gwenyth S

Gwenyth S - Gwen S. is a passionate vocalist and pianist with 7 years of experience performing in numerous musicals and operas in both Indiana and Italy. She holds a degree from Butler University in Vocal Performance with a secondary emphasis in piano. While pursuing her Master’s in Music from Indiana University, Gwen is performing with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and throughout the local community. At B2R Gwen joins the team as a vocal, piano, and early childhood music instructor.

Justin B

Justin B - Justin B. is a dedicated euphoniumist who has performed with numerous ensembles, including the Northwestern Symphonic Wind Ensemble and The Cavaliers Marching Drum and Bugle Corps. With 18 years of musical experience and a degree in Music Education and Euphonium Performance, Justin has taught in many different capacities. He was previously the Choral Music Director of Northwestern’s Phi Mu Alpha Chapter, brass staff with The Cavaliers, and a private lesson and student teacher for the surrounding Chicago public schools. Justin joins B2R as a guitar, bass, brass, and piano teacher.

Justin G

Justin G - Justin G. has played the piano for 19 years and is a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he earned a Master of Music in Composition. He has studied and performed a wide variety of genres, including jazz, rock, classical, and experimental music. In addition to teaching, Justin works as a composer for visual media, creating original music for films, commercials, and video games. Justin joins the Bach to Rock team as a piano, guitar, and Early Childhood instructor.

Mason S

Mason S - Mason S. is a musician of over 10 years and recently graduated with a degree in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. During his time in school, Mason has performed, composed, and arranged music for several instrumental ensembles of varying genres, including both classical and rock. Mason has spent the last 8 years enhancing his guitar skills and studied with Sandy Williams. Subsequently, Mason has extensive experience working with younger children. Mason joins B2R as a guitar, bass, ukulele, and rock band teacher.

Sarah T

Sarah T - Sarah T. is a passionate and well-rounded instrumentalist and vocalist. While she is primarily an oboist and singer, she has significant knowledge and experience teaching and performing on woodwind and brass instruments, as well as guitar, mandolin, and piano. Sarah holds degrees in Oboe Performance, Music Education, and Psychology from Auburn University and a master’s degree in Oboe Performance from the University of Southern Mississippi. Sarah has been active in both instrumental and vocal ensembles ranging from symphony orchestra, marching band, and wind ensemble to choir and a capella groups. She has held principal positions in various ensembles, served as Tenor Saxophone Section Leader in the Auburn University Marching Band, and was Co-Founder and Co-Director of Tonal Recall A Capella. Outside of her professional studies, Sarah has taught at marching and concert band camps, given years of private lessons for woodwinds and voice, and has music teaching experience with students ranging from toddlers to adults. She enjoys performing often whether it be with symphony orchestras and jazz bands or singing with rock, indie, and bluegrass bands. Sarah joins B2R as an Instructor and Band Coach.

Tracy P

Tracy P - Tracy P. has been pursuing music for the last four decades. Starting in high school, she was in both marching band and show choir. She has continued with singing in various church choirs since and has played in multiple bell choirs as well. She has also worked with kids over the years in many ways, as well as working at multiple preschools, providing library story times to numerous kids, and raising two children of her own. Tracy joins the B2R team as an administrative assistant.

Barbara K

Barbara K - Barb is a two-time graduate of Ball State University and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education. Barb taught for many years in the Metropolitan School District of Washington Township in Indianapolis. There she worked in elementary music education and with the middle school choirs. Barb has also taught English through music to children in Shanghai and presented on voice usage at the collegiate level. She joins the B2R team as a voice, ukulele, and recorder instructor.

Brenna W

Brenna W - Brenna White is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Music Education degree at Butler University. She is an active collegiate member of the National Association for Music Education and Indiana Music Education Association. In addition to being a pre-service music educator, Brenna has been involved in many ensembles and has performed in the Butler Symphony Orchestra alongside Butler Ballet’s 2023 production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. She has had extensive experience in childcare, including but not limited to teaching sunday school and being a section leader for Carmel High School in 2021 and 2022.

Christopher B

Christopher B - Christopher B. teaches music production, guitar, and Djing at Bach To Rock -Carmel. He has been performing in bands since he was 16 years old. In 2013 he moved across the country to Los Angeles to become a Dj. As a Dj he performed at the Avalon and Sutra nightclubs. Christopher is an audio engineer/producer with 11 years of experience with Ableton.

Clarissa A

Clarissa A - Clarissa has 15 years of musical experience. She is a recent graduate of Ball State University and holds bachelor’s degrees in Music Media Production and Trumpet Performance. While at Ball State, she performed in various ensembles including the Ball State Wind Ensemble, the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, the “Wrecking Crew” Trumpet Ensemble, and the Undergraduate Brass Quintet. She has experience teaching as a trumpet technician with the Jay County and Frankton-Lapel marching bands. Clarissa joins B2R as an instructor of piano, trumpet, early childhood, and music production.

Daniel M

Daniel M - Daniel M. obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees in Chemical Engineering, both from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He currently works as a Project Engineer with Cornerstone Controls, Inc. in Indianapolis. He has teaching experience as a director of Chemistry on Wheels, and as a marching and music tech with Washington High School's band program. He performs with various ensembles across the Indianapolis area on flute, bass guitar, and drums. Daniel joins the Bach to Rock team as an instructor of guitar, bass, piano, drums, flute, and rock bands.

Emmie E

Emmie E - Emmie E. has been playing violin for 14 years. She has participated in many orchestras including Indianapolis Youth Orchestra, with which she travelled to perform in Carnegie Hall. She is currently a music education student at Butler University and hopes to help kids discover and fulfill their musical potential. She now serves as a violin instructor at Bach to Rock.

Ethan M

Ethan M - Ethan has been a musician for 27 years. He plays a variety of instruments, specializes in piano, and holds a degree in Music Business from Indiana University Southeast. He has been part of a wide array of ensembles throughout his musical career, including rock bands, jazz bands, concert orchestras/bands, chamber choirs, and many more. Ethan joins the B2R team as a piano, guitar, drum, ukulele, and rock band instructor.

Frank S

Frank S - Frank graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music and holds a Master's Degree in Information Technology from Liberty University. He has performed on guitar, vocals, drums, and bass on various projects for over two decades. He is currently an IT professional by day and a Worship Leader at his church. Frank joins the team as a guitar, drums, and voice instructor!

Jill M

Jill M - Jill M. studied trumpet and piano at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music with a degree in Music and French. She later attended Butler University where she earned an Indiana teaching license. Over her 19+ years of teaching she has taught musical groups in many different settings from beginning band to home school world drumming, and private lessons in public schools and at home. She also loves to sing and play the guitar. She joins Bach to Rock as a piano instructor.

Jonah H - Jonah H. is currently a senior Vocal Music Education major at Ball State University, and is providing instruction for voice, piano, drums, ukulele, and early childhood at B2R Carmel! Jonah has studied voice under Dr. Aaron Paige and Dr. Kevin Gwinn, and has been teaching for several years! Jonah is so grateful to have such a valuable source of experience and community at Bach to Rock. He has participated in various musical ensembles for over 10 years, and was a member of the Ball State University Singers show choir and the student-led acapella group, Unexpected Resolution. Jonah is eager to continue pursuing opportunities to teach and share the unifying power of music!

Jonah L

Jonah L - Jonah Lane is a dedicated music teacher with over seven years of experience. He specializes in bass, guitar, and cello. His musical journey began with a classical foundation, leading to studies at Berklee College of Music. Hailing from San Diego, CA, Jonah's love for music was influenced by his guitarist father and his mother, who recently picked up learning the bass guitar. Jonah is excited to help children express themselves through music. He joins Bach to Rock as a guitar, bass, drums, and rock band instructor.

Lynzi S

Lynzi S - Lynzi S. is a full-time gigging musician and session vocalist who has been singing professionally for 10+ years. She minored in music at IUPUI, and went on to complete programs in vocal pedagogy and music production. She has been teaching voice for 8 years, with a focus on helping students find not only what sounds the best, but also what feels the best for their own unique instrument that is their voice. Lynzi joins the Bach to Rock team as a voice instructor.

Nat D

Nat D - Nat D. started playing guitar at the age of 10 after having a strong interest in music throughout childhood. Ever since first joining a band at the age of 14, Nat has had a passion for songwriting and musical creativity. In addition to guitar, Nat spent high school playing in Winter Percussion ensemble and learning bass. After high school, they attended University of Indianapolis where they hold a degree in Music with a concentration in Tech and Recording. While in college, Nat studied classical and jazz guitar with a variety of instructors. Currently, Nat keeps busy with several projects including playing lead guitar for a local shoegaze band as well as fronting a punk trio. Nat joins B2R as a guitar, bass, and rock band teacher!

Piper N - Piper N. earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from DePauw University, specializing in opera and musical theatre. Having started music at a very young age, she loves helping students find their unique voices. Piper joins B2R as a teacher of voice and piano, as well as early childhood music classes, creating a fun and supportive learning environment for all ages. Whether working with beginners or advanced students, she focuses on building confidence, technique, and an overall love for music.

Rachel B

Rachel B - Rachel is a full-time musician and instructor based in the Indianapolis area. She’s been a performing vocalist since the age of 8. She expanded her instrument studying classical vocals and music theory at Indiana State University. During her college years, she started her career as a musician performing with a local band. From there, her focused switched to R&B, Pop, and Rock vocals. She furthered her knowledge of vocal pedagogy through vocal therapy and independent study after a singing related injury in her early 20s. Soon after, she found a passion in teaching music to people of all ages and has been teaching private lessons for 5+ years. You can find Rachel jamming with The Indigos, Magnolia Soul, Honey & Hutch acoustic duo, and filling in for other bands in the community. Rachel firmly believes that the best way to use your instrument is by creating music with the people you love, inspiring the next generation of musicians, and sharing your voice with the world. She joins the Bach to Rock team as a vocal instructor and rock band coach.

Sean C

Sean C - Sean has over 20 years of experience as a violinist, and specializes in orchestral strings, chamber music, piano, and general music. He received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Education, School Administration from Indiana State University where he studied under violinist, Dr. Bill Davis. He currently is the orchestra director for Central Middle International School and violin and general music teacher at Wallace Elementary School of Integrated Arts in Kokomo, IN. Sean joins the B2R team as a strings and piano instructor.

Sophie B

Sophie B - Sophie B. joins B2R Carmel as an instructor of violin and piano. Sophie has been playing the violin for 14 years and is currently receiving her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Ball State University. In high school, she was a member of the Indianapolis Youth Symphony Orchestra where they performed at Carnegie Hall, and she also participated in a side-by-side program with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in 2019. Sophie has taught private violin lessons since high school and frequently visits schools to teach kids about string instruments, which has grown her passion for teaching music tremendously. Outside of B2R, she loves performing chamber music and currently freelances as a violinist around Indiana.

Stephen F

Stephen F - Stephen F. has been playing music for over 20 years. He is primarily a drummer but has a love for guitar, keys and vocal arts. For the past 5 years, Stephen has been focused on writing, producing and recording his own music, and previously worked in Los Angeles as a recording artist. At B2R Stephen teaches drums, rock band and music production.

Taylor P

Taylor P - Taylor started her musical career by learning the guitar and percussion. She was involved in all music courses in high school including concert bands, marching band, choir, orchestra winds, and pit orchestra for the musicals. With a strong passion for music, she went to college at Morehead State University in Kentucky and graduated with her Bachelors of Music Education. Currently, Taylor is an Elementary Music Teacher in Indianapolis and is excited to join the B2R team as an early childhood teacher.

Lessons

Bach to Rock offers music lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our private lessons include piano, guitar, drums, voice, and a wide range of other instruments. We also offer beginner classes and ensemble programs like Band and Glee Club. Anyone can learn to play music with Bach to Rock — even if you've never played an instrument before!

Camps

Our camps are a perfect choice for students who love music! We offer full-day and half-day summer camps, spring camps, and winter camps for kids, plus camps on school holidays. Our camps are great for students who want to start learning music and see what it's like to perform!

Parties

Birthday parties at Bach to Rock give kids a chance to be rock stars for a day! With themes like Karaoke Birthday and Rock Birthday, partygoers get to perform and record songs by their favorite artists. We also offer birthday party packages for younger children and corporate teams!

At Bach to Rock, our instructors include a mix of classically trained musicians and working professionals. Our teachers actively tour, perform, and record as independent artists or as backing musicians for other musicians and bands.
