Student of the Month – Kyle P.

Our Student of the Month (September 2022) is Kyle P, who takes Violin lessons at Bach to Rock Sandy Plains. Read the Q&As below to find out more about him!   

Q: What inspired you to play music?   

A: I got inspired to play the violin after listening to the soundtrack of Hollow Knight (video game). I wanted to be able to play some of the songs. 

 Q: What is your favorite style of music?   

A: I like grunge and rock, and of course video game music.   

Q: Who is your favorite artist and why?   

A: I like Nirvana because their music sounds depressing but is actually catchy.   

Q: What is your favorite song to play?   

A: My favorite so far is my recital piece Bach’s Minuet No. 1.    

Q: What are you learning right now in your lessons?   

A: I am learning about dynamics and expression, like forte and piano.  

Q: What are you most looking forward to learning/performing?   

A: I want to learn more Hollow Knight songs, and maybe a rock song or two.  

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Bach to Rock?   

A: I enjoy going to Bach to Rock because all the teachers are friendly and my lessons are fun.   

Q: What is your favorite thing about your teacher?   

A: Mr. Neal is funny and he is very good at explaining technique and new lessons.  

Q: What do you enjoy doing when you’re not playing music?   

A: I like playing video games and drawing/painting.  

Mr. Neal has been Kyle’s Voice Teacher as of February 2022, and has shared his thoughts on teaching Kyle:   

“My favorite part about Kyle is that he is always ready to do work. He is a very focused listener which helps him to quickly manage new musical topics. He is never deterred by challenges, and is patient in overcoming them. He did a splendid job on his Summer Recital performance, and I’m looking forward to watching him continue to improve.”
