At Bach to Rock, we’ve assembled an amazing team of music teachers! Our instructors include classically trained musicians, as well as working professionals who tour and record with major artists. Meet our owners, our behind-the-scenes talent, and our music teachers for piano, guitar, drums, voice, and more!

Julie L

Julie L - Julie L is the Site Director at Bach to Rock Fairfax. She has a degree in Music Industry Management from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She is a vocalist and has been singing all her life. She hopes to start teaching at the school once she has settled into this new role. Julie comes to B2R with a strong background in music industry management, marketing and social media content management. She has previously been in auditioned choirs and has performed at a variety of events. Julie also has experience working at events as event staff and media personnel.

Amaya G

Amaya G - Amaya started picking up and playing instruments at a young age, loving to make creative sounds. She started playing the clarinet a few years later which was her first real music learning experience where she learned to read music and learn the fundamentals. During this time, she became part of a pops ensemble group which she loved and truly helped her grow as a musician. She has a deep passion for music with ambition to continue learning more instruments and she finds music to be very fun and therapeutic whether that is listening or playing. Amaya is a part of the admin team at Bach to Rock Fairfax.

Ava W

Ava W - Ava W is a singer-songwriter and an instrumentalist who is currently studying Psychology with a focus on Behavioral Neurosciences at George Mason University. Ava has volunteered at A Place to Be in Middleburg, VA, a music therapy practice, and is currently minoring in Music as a Healing Art with the hopes of continuing a career in Music Therapy. She began her musical journey at age 5 when she started writing songs. She is a self-taught musician who got her first guitar at age 8 and piano at age 10 which she learned to play by watching videos online. Ava is an alumni of Bach to Rock who participated in multiple summer camps, Rock Band, and took private lessons for four years. It was at Bach to Rock where she discovered her love for performance which she has carried with her to her family’s nonprofit, Sara’s Acts of Kindness, where she performs to raise awareness for pediatric cancers. Ava can be seen in the classroom at Bach to Rock, Fairfax teaching piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, and early-childhood classes!

David P

David P - David P is a third generation musician who was classically trained from a young age and after learning piano and violin, moved on to learn guitar, bass, and keyboards, eventually finding himself a full-time signed, touring gold-record certified musician in several bands, touring both nation-wide and internationally. He has many years of experience with piano, guitar, bass, songwriting, and music production, plus years of live touring experience. David also completed the recording arts program at Citrus College in California and is now an independent music producer. He is a lover of all kinds of music from all kinds of rock, pop, funk, jazz, hip-hop, country, R&B/ soul, and broadway. David is also passionate about teaching others and has always loved sharing his knowledge about what it takes to be a performer and professional musician in a band.

Doug M

Doug M - Doug is a gigging multi-instrumentalist, entertainer, and band leader who loves all aspects of music. Starting on trumpet in Elementary School, he was hooked on music from the start. After picking up the piano in middle school, he learned the rewards of composing original pieces. In college, he picked up the bass guitar which led to experiences in traditional rock genre's. As a gigging musician for many decades, he has played countless shows from big and small stages to private events and lounges. At Back to Rock, he draws on live show experiences, broad knowledge of genres, using your ear, knowledge of music notations, and passion for the art to help instrumentalists continue their growth. Doug can be found teaching bass, trumpet, and piano.

Floyd A

Floyd A - Floyd A (a.k.a.) DJ Wah-Heed has been playing records since the age of 1. He is greatly influenced by his late Caribbean parents’ love of music, playing everything from World Beat to Funk, Gospel, Jazz, R & B, Motown, Rock, Reggae, Soca, Disco, Latin, Rap and oldies. Wah-heed is a full-time DJ who plays at many weddings, corporate events, school dances, and private parties throughout the DMV area and outside the region in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. He is also co-owner of a podcast called Party, Life, and Music Radio where he and his business partner has conducted interviews of recording artists such as The Legendary DJ Kool, and various DJs on buzzsprout radio buzzsprout.com/88751 and curate their own DJ sets spanning a wide variety of genres of music. He is also a member of the International DJ Cafe - DMV Chapter that hosts monthly meetups on the 3rd Sunday of the month where various DJs can come out and play in public spinning great music.

Jamie E

Jamie E - Jamie is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who has played the guitar for 6 years, in addition to bass, mandolin, and drums. Jamie is a senior at George Mason University, studying accounting. He loves music, and plays and has played in a variety of bands, learning a variety of genres, from rock, blues, and jazz, to indie, folk, and country. Jamie has experience teaching/coaching children's martial arts and rowing. He loves all aspects of music: songwriting, performing, learning, and especially sharing it with others. Jamie can be found teaching guitar and bass at Bach to Rock Fairfax.

Jon F

Jon F - Jon began his love of drumming at an early age. From the time he received his first drum set at 14 years of age, he has been playing drums for over 20 years. 16 of those 20 years, he has been performing in several bands as well. Jon's favorite drummer ever is Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan (Avenged Sevenfold "Bat Country"). His favorite genre of music is Heavy Metal. Reason being, is that all genres are able to be incorporated within this one genre. That being said; he is fluent in most genres of music. 2016 is where his professional teaching experience starts: Jon has been a drumline coach since 2016. He has been teaching drums privately for several years prior to 2024. 2024 is when he started doing private drum lessons at "Bach 2 Rock Music School". He has been teaching drums for as long as he has been because he truly enjoys it!! His favorite part of teaching is when a student accomplishes a concept that has been taught to him/her.

Malakai W

Malakai W - Malakai W has been singing since the day he was born, and has played guitar for almost as long. He fell in love with music at a very young age, his first favorite genre being classic rock. He has been a part of multiple bands in the past, as well as acted and sung in various musical theater performances. Today, he writes, composes, records and produces his own songs, his current favorite genre being alternative metal. He is thrilled to be a part of the Bach to Rock team!

Meghan H

Meghan H - Meghan H is a classically trained instrumentalist in violin and viola. She picked up music from a young age and first began tutoring students in middle school, continuing to explore different genres and playing in multiple orchestras across the years. She has always had a love for music, connecting with the community through it, and sharing it with people. She is currently studying for a dual degree in Music and Biology at George Mason University and hopes to attain a doctorate. 

Renee W

Renee W - Renee is a music education student at George Mason University with a focus in Band and Music Theory. She has played French horn for 4 years and Trumpet for 8 years before that along with many other instruments along the way. She began giving private lessons Junior year of high school on her own and has continued doing so since then. She loves connecting music and emotion and using music to help others!

Rick S

Rick S - Rick S is a recently retired middle school band director with over 35 years teaching experience. He has been a gigging keyboardist in the DMV for 40 years performing with some of the area’s top bands. Rick holds a BA (trumpet major) from Catholic University and a Master's in Music Education from the University of Oregon. He has extensive experience teaching all wind instruments and jazz/rock piano. Rick has also composed numerous regional jingles for TV and radio. Some of his spots that have aired are Saval Deli, First Mariner Bank, Baltimore Professional Soccer, Marvins Sports City and Accent Hair Salon. Rick loves sharing his passion for music and enjoys watching students become lifelong musicians.

Wesley M

Wesley M - Wesley is a gigging drummer that has been playing shows in the greater DMV area for nearly a decade with more than a dozen different bands. Starting from a very young age he has learned and played a very wide variety of genres and styles including funk, rock and roll, classic rock, jazz, punk, grunge, hip-hop, blues, reggae, country, pop, classic soul, pop punk, Motown, Latin styles, metal, and fusion. He has also done orchestral percussion, pit for musicals, and marching percussion while he was in school, and during his time at George Mason University played drums for the Green Machine pep band. He has experience playing covers true to the record, composing originals, and arranging and modifying covers to fit the musicians playing it. With a show count well into the triple digits, he hopes to bring that experience to teach and help any aspiring drummer grow to reach their playing goals.

Lessons

Bach to Rock offers music lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our private lessons include piano, guitar, drums, voice, and a wide range of other instruments. We also offer beginner classes and ensemble programs like Band and Glee Club. Anyone can learn to play music with Bach to Rock — even if you've never played an instrument before!

Camps

Our camps are a perfect choice for students who love music! We offer full-day and half-day summer camps, spring camps, and winter camps for kids, plus camps on school holidays. Our camps are great for students who want to start learning music and see what it's like to perform!

Parties

Birthday parties at Bach to Rock give kids a chance to be rock stars for a day! With themes like Karaoke Birthday and Rock Birthday, partygoers get to perform and record songs by their favorite artists. We also offer birthday party packages for younger children and corporate teams!

At Bach to Rock, our instructors include a mix of classically trained musicians and working professionals. Our teachers actively tour, perform, and record as independent artists or as backing musicians for other musicians and bands.
