At Bach to Rock, we’ve assembled an amazing team of music teachers! Our instructors include classically trained musicians, as well as working professionals who tour and record with major artists. Meet our owners, our behind-the-scenes talent, and our music teachers for piano, guitar, drums, voice, and more!

Joshua Staehle

Joshua Staehle - Site Director, has a passion for music that drives his desire to teach and share his love and joy of it with people of all ages. He has been studying music for the majority of his lifetime and graduated with a B.A. in Vocal Performance from the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA. As well as an MBA from Grand Canyon University. He has studied performance, composition, ethnomusicology, and music education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. For over a decade Joshua has been teaching voice, bass guitar, piano, ukulele, guitar, flute, cello, mandolin, and banjo, as well as music theory and composition. He is an eclectic and varied musician with influences such as Freddy Mercury, Bela Bartok, Bob Marley, Alexandre Desplat, Robert Johnson, Stevie Wonder, Charles Mingus, Mike Patton, Victor Wooten, and many, many more. Joshua is committed to the success of each of his students and his teaching style ensures that his students not only learn the musicality of the instrument, but have fun while playing. His greatest desire is to instill an appreciation for music that will last a lifetime.

Dan Settle

Dan Settle - Dan S. started teaching in Illinois in 2015 at a small music shop in Grayslake, Illinois. He began teaching guitar and worked his way to teaching bass, banjo, ukulele, and mandolin. Dan Settle has been in a variety of bands playing a variety of genres; his main genres are metal and blues. He is currently in the process of scoring video games with his music, as well as continuing his academic career at Arizona State University. When not making music he loves coding, DND, Magic the Gathering, and pickleball

Kylie Guest

Kylie Guest - Kylie is the Assistant Director at Bach to Rock North Scottsdale. Her passion for music began around the age of 10, when she started her music journey playing trumpet in her middle school band. She continued to play trumpet in a variety of marching bands and wind ensembles for the next 12 years. This passion for music combined with her college education in Graphic Design and Communication helps her create fun and unique opportunities for Bach to Rock students to participate in. Whether it's DJ-ing a school event, hosting an open mic, or manning the front desk, Kylie is passionate about helping kids and adults explore music in a fun and educational way.

Alex A

Alex A - Alex A. is a stand up fellow who loves to make music. Alex teaches Piano, Guitar, Audio Production, and Songwriting at our school, and he is passionate about showing students new ways to create their own beats and tracks. When he's not jamming or mixing new songs, Alex enjoys collecting vintage holiday snowglobes.

Lauren B

Lauren B - Lauren is a classically-trained musician who specializes in conducting and double bass. Beginning her musical journey at age eight, she has performed in a wide variety of orchestras throughout her many years in the classical sphere. She is currently pursuing her musicianship and education at Arizona State University through double majoring in Music and Culture (BA) and History (BA). At present, Lauren is the principal double bassist in the ASU Philharmonia and the Assistant Conductor of the People’s Community Orchestra of Tempe. She is actively participating in orchestral conducting workshops across the country, studying large classical symphonic works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9. Her passion for music is bolstered by her favorite composers: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Antonín Dvorák, and Joe Hisaishi. Other musical influences include Peso Pluma, Vicente Fernandez, Gotye, Highly Suspect, and Foster the People.

Alex T

Alex T - Alex T. is a guitar and piano instructor who is also an award winning music composer for film. Alex became fascinated with music when he began taking guitar lessons as a young teenager. By the time he was eighteen years old he had also picked up piano and began practicing vocal music. It wasn’t much longer before he developed an interest in writing music. In 2012, Alex scored his first feature length film Howard & Loki for Director/Cinematographer/Writer David Lewis (Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, Winning London), and has since scored several dozen other film and commercial projects. He has been awarded two regional EMMYs and a College Television award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation for his composition work. Alex also has a passion for inspiring others and finding ways to help people succeed. Prior to working at Bach to Rock, he was an independent guitar and piano instructor and has also worked as a habilitation and respite care provider for children with special needs. He knows the importance of setting concrete short and long term goals to help people succeed and make their dreams come true.

Anna C

Anna C - Anna C. is an independent musician based in the greater Phoenix area studying Popular Music at Arizona State University with an emphasis in Guitar Performance. Anna has always been passionate about music, but she officially began her musical career playing the viola and singing for school orchestras/choirs at a young age. Wanting to find more opportunities to rock & roll, she grew up and branched out into the worlds of guitar, piano, electric bass, drums, and ukulele where she has comfortably resided within the realm of modern/ popular music for the past 10 years and counting. Anna has real-world experience in producing independently and performing live--having performed shows and released music in both collaborative and independent settings-- and looks forward to sharing this knowledge and experience with her students. Outside of music, Anna enjoys watching and playing basketball (go Chicago Bulls, go Indiana Fever!), spending time with her dog, and giving back to her community.

Davis S - Davis is a piano and drum teacher at our school. He has been in many marching bands around AZ. He helped out at Chaparral High School for 3 years in the drumline. He plays live music in his free time and makes music with his friends. He is trained in Jazz and Rock on piano. One of his favorite quote is, “If you have to ask what jazz is, you will never understand.” - Louis Armstrong

Jack S

Jack S - Jack S. is excited to join the teaching staff as Woodwind Instructor at Bach to Rock, North Scottsdale. He began playing at an early age, and currently specializes in teaching saxophone, clarinet and flute. He studied music at Northern Arizona University, receiving his Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Music degrees. He has a wide range of performance experience from classic to jazz. Jack has been playing professionally over the past 40 years, and is currently performing with a variety of bands around the valley. He has a passion for jazz and is a skilled improviser and composer. A few of his favorite artists include Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, and David Sanborn. He enjoys all styles of music, and has experience in a variety of musical genres. He looks forward to sharing his musical knowledge with his students, and help bring their skills to a higher level.

LJ C

LJ C - Lauren (LJ) C. is a born-and-raised Arizonan and a music educator specializing in upright double bass. LJ teaches double bass, voice, piano, bass guitar, and ukulele at Bach to Rock North Scottsdale. LJ has been performing in orchestra, choir, and theatre for over 15 years and teaching music for 7 years. Also a math teacher, LJ loves learning about music theory and is fascinated by all the mathematics involved in making music. LJ enjoys listening to most genres of music, but especially alternative indie pop, jazz, and showtunes. Some of their favorite artists include Taylor Swift, Lorde, Beyoncé, Florence and the Machine, and Sammy Rae & The Friends, and their favorite musicals are School of Rock and The Addams Family. LJ’s favorite thing about teaching music is facilitating discovery and fostering a lifelong love of music in students while maintaining a safe learning environment. Outside of music, LJ is also involved in the local drag community and does mutual aid with Nourish PHX.

Maryam S

Maryam S - Maryam is a musician originally from a small town called Hollister, CA. She loves all things music and spends her time singing, writing songs and playing instruments. She loved piano lessons as a child and went on to teach herself guitar as a late teen. During her college years, she fell in love with music, often writing songs in her dorm room. Her musical journey led her to many places including San Francisco where she gained experience as a lead singer of a band and also discovered her love for teaching music to kids. Her most recent project is a collection of 5 original songs which is soon to be released, so keep an eye out! In addition to music, Maryam is passionate about volunteering in her communities and being of service to humanity.

Max S

Max S - Meet Max S., a drummer of many years who has had the opportunity to perform and record from the east to the west coast. Through high school and college Max performed in a number of Jazz, Pop, and Classical bands. He continues to perform and record across the valley performing with all genres from pop to metal. His passion derives from his musical family and with a focus on innovation and creativity. "You hold the keys to your own universe!" - Max

Morgan W

Morgan W - Morgan W. is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist/lyricist, audio engineer, composer, and improvisor. A guitarist with over 19 years of experience, he studied in Santa Fe, NM with New York Times acclaimed jazz virtuoso Bruce Dunlap and in Los Angeles, CA with heavy metal shred master Greg Harrison (PDP, Hed PE). As a vocalist, he earned a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Musicians Institute, studying heavily in school with Carol Rodgers (Sergio Mendes, Mama O) and outside of school with Kalen Chase (Ko?n, Vimic) while also performing regularly in the Los Angeles area at venues including the world-famous Whisky a Go Go and the Viper Room. His studies at Musicians Institute also allowed him the opportunity to earn a minor in Audio Engineering and become a skilled operator of music software programs such as Logic Pro X and Sibelius 7. He has also studied composition with Haim Mazar (The Iceman, Legion) and Daniel Levin, and has collaborated on projects with video game composer Cody M. Johnson (Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil 2) and film composer Sandesh Nagaraj.

Sydney M

Sydney M - Sydney M. has been teaching private students for 6 years and is a recent graduate in vocal performance at Grand Canyon University. Sydney has a passion for singing and has been involved in community theater since she was young. At GCU, she was involved in the top scholarship choir and had leads in several of the musicals there. In fall 2024, she will be heading to Arizona State University for her masters in vocal performance with an emphasis in opera!

Teresa B

Teresa B - Teresa B. is a strings, piano, and early childhood teacher from San Antonio, Texas. She has been playing instruments since the age of five and wishes to share that lifelong love of music with others. Graduating from the North East School of the Arts high school and Arizona State University for Music Therapy, she has experienced music both as a performer and a clinician. As a musician, she is experienced in ensemble work such as symphonic orchestra, string quartet, musicals, opera, and mariachi. This passion has led her to play in four different countries, teach private lessons, lead workshops, and continue to learn and explore as many instruments as she can. Currently, she primarily works as a Registered Behavioral Technician providing early childhood ABA services. Her favorite music artists include the Beatles, Kali Uchis, Laufey, Antonin Dvorak, Paramore, Natalia Lafourcade, Hozier, Lizzy McAlpine, and Frank Ocean.

Titan P

Titan P - Titan Palmer is a self taught musician, multi instrumentalist, and performer who plays and teaches drums, guitar, bass, ukulele, piano, and trumpet. He has been in a few bands since graduating high school, recording and releasing an album, an EP, and various singles with different bands. As a solo artist, he creates music inspired by classic 50’s rock and modern indie rock. Throughout his time as a musician, he has gained experience in songwriting, performing, and producing and hopes to create music that inspires others to do the same.

Lessons

Bach to Rock offers music lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our private lessons include piano, guitar, drums, voice, and a wide range of other instruments. We also offer beginner classes and ensemble programs like Band and Glee Club. Anyone can learn to play music with Bach to Rock — even if you've never played an instrument before!

Camps

Our camps are a perfect choice for students who love music! We offer full-day and half-day summer camps, spring camps, and winter camps for kids, plus camps on school holidays. Our camps are great for students who want to start learning music and see what it's like to perform!

Parties

Birthday parties at Bach to Rock give kids a chance to be rock stars for a day! With themes like Karaoke Birthday and Rock Birthday, partygoers get to perform and record songs by their favorite artists. We also offer birthday party packages for younger children and corporate teams!
