Songwriting Workshops in Plymouth
Bach to Rock® songwriting workshops are packed with tips and instruction for up-and-coming composers and hitmakers-in-training!
Each 1-hour workshop includes 45 minutes of instruction, led by an experienced songwriter. This is followed by 15 minutes of Q&A time, giving students the chance to ask questions about the material.
Our online workshops are hosted over Zoom, so students can take part in workshops from the comfort of home.

Songwriting: Pop Song Music Theory Crash Course
When it comes to composition and music theory, the fundamentals of pop music are surprisingly simple! By mastering basic patterns and progressions, you can learn the secrets behind your favorite songs.
In this workshop on pop music theory, we analyze the chords, instruments, melodies and song forms of recent hits. Then, we show you how to apply these techniques to your own songs!
Songwriting: Melody & Harmony
What makes a melody catchy? What range of notes should I use? How do I write harmonies? You’ll find the answers in this songwriting workshop!
Learn how to create a solid melody and balanced harmony. We teach the basics of voice leading, as well as the role that different melodies play for each section of the song. We will also explain how to add simple harmonies and give your song depth.
Songwriting: Complete Songwriting Formula
In this songwriting workshop, you’ll learn about our signature formula for constructing a well-written song. We’ll break down the individual elements of a song, including topic and lyrics, chord progressions and melody, the song form, arrangement and production quality. At the same time, we’ll explain the role of each component in songwriting.
Songwriting: Getting Ready to Record
After you’ve written a hit song, it still needs to be recorded. This workshop will focus on how to make the most of your time in the recording studio! We’ll show you how to prepare for recording, how to arrange different instruments, and how to achieve high-quality tracks in as few takes as possible.
