At Bach to Rock, we’ve assembled an amazing team of music teachers! Our instructors include classically trained musicians, as well as working professionals who tour and record with major artists. Meet our owners, our behind-the-scenes talent, and our music teachers for piano, guitar, drums, voice, and more!

Vicki K*

Vicki K* - Vicki is a vocal coach, piano teacher and early education teacher and keeps everything in order as a key part of the management and admin team. She has been singing and performing since before she could read, and grew up taking piano and vocal lessons. Vicki has been involved in theatre music and choreography for many years. Her active involvement and passion for music inspired her own children to be very engaged with music with one of them going on to be a professional musician. Being a musician and an educator are two of Vicki's favorite roles and she especially enjoys inspiring the very young kids who are just starting to explore music.

Joe F

Joe F - Joe F. is a guitar, drum, bass and piano instructor. He studied classical and pop composition at SCC, and from there attended The University of Houston to get his AA in education. A teacher of 14 years, he connects with students of all ages and multiple styles. Joe has years of experience in home and pro studios helping produce local music of all genres and also performs with his band around Seattle.

Amani A

Amani A - Amani was born in Eugene, Oregon, but grew up in the Redmond area, which she has always considered home. Her love for singing began early in life, and her formal education in music began at Redmond Middle School, where she became a long-time member of the school choir all the way through her high school graduation. She’s sung for musical theater productions, in acapella groups, and in the recording studio. Eager to keep music in her life, she even created and managed a choir club at the University of Washington’s Bothell Campus. When she’s not doing music, she’s working in the field of environmental science, especially passionate about marine biology, taking care of our local rivers. She’s excited to share her enthusiasm for music as a vocal teacher.

Anne B

Anne B - Anne, soprano, has sung opera, oratorio and concert repertoire in the northwest, Arkansas, and Germany. She holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in music. She has taught voice at Northwest University for 10 years. Anne has also served as the Director of Traditional Music at Redmond Presbyterian Church since 2012.

Barney B

Barney B - Barney B. is an electric bass, guitar, ukulele, drums, piano and trumpet instructor. The first instrument that he learnt as a young boy was the trumpet, and he has discovered more and more instruments to add to his skill set since then! He’s been playing professionally since the age of 17, when bands with funky horn sections reigned supreme. He later moved to Seattle, where he earned his BA in musical composition and performance from Cornish College with the bass guitar as his primary instrument. He has written for, and performed with, a myriad of musical acts, including salsa bands, gospel groups, jazz combos, chamber and full orchestras, and others. With his often goofy sense of humour, Barney loves to constantly learn - which is probably why he connects so naturally with students of all ages.

Brent B

Brent B - Brent is a piano/keys, drum, and trumpet instructor. Not only is he very versed in classical piano music, he also plays and teaches movie soundtracks, ragtime, rock, waltz, and worship. Brent would even relish teaching synthesizer side by side with piano for interested students. Leaning on his formal piano training, Brent initially picked up the synthesizer to fill in for missing band members. He quickly realized a well studied synth musician can be an asset to multiple music ensembles to deliver just the right mix that is needed (strings, brass, bass, guitar, voices, etc.). Now, he gets quite the blast from playing a full drum set on the synth, and watching the perplexed audience look for a drummer and drum set that are not on the stage! For the ‘real’ drum set, he draws from his experiences from orchestral settings to marching and pep bands. Brent encourages his students to have fun while learning an instrument. He is passionate that the gift of music can be played by everyone who wants to learn, including those with physical disabilities.

Chloe R

Chloe R - Chloe is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with a background in musical theatre technique and performance, as well as self-accompaniment and solo performance. She believes firmly in music as a tool for self-discovery, and encourages students to follow their intuition and find their own unique creative voice. As an instructor, Chloe’s approach is primarily student-led. Students are encouraged to set goals, and then student and instructor work together to find the best tools to reach those goals. Every student learns differently, and Chloe believes that flexibility, responsiveness, and creativity are not only important tools to improve education, but important skills to teach students as they journey into the world of music. Her approach is informed by years of experience working with young people in theatre and music, and a deep commitment to antiracist, disability justice, and decolonial frameworks that prioritize understanding and relationship-building to foster a safe and supportive learning environment. When she’s not teaching music or making music, she enjoys weaving and cooking. Chloe is also the proud owner of two beautiful ball pythons (Angalo and Agsakit) and one very silly dog (Spoons).

Ella G

Ella G - Ella, an alto, has been singing in a jazz choir for the past three years, and a concert or chamber choir for the past six. Ella has won several outstanding musicianship awards at Jazz festivals, and was accepted into the All Northwest choir as well as the national honors society for music at her school. Ella grew up in the Redmond area taking vocal lessons and is currently a senior in high school. She has been passionate about music since before she could walk and loves to share her joy with others!

Jason K

Jason K - Jason K. is a saxophone, clarinet teacher who also plays guitar and ukulele. Jason has been playing saxophone for 12 years, and clarinet for 11. With his uncanny ear for pitch and keys that allows him to jump into any song with his saxophone or clarinet, Jason is a gem performer. The staff here love hearing Jason play his saxophone at the school - he makes it sound so buttery and effortless! Jason earned his BA in classical performance at Virginia Commonwealth University, and has ample experience across many genres, from jazz and rock to funk and hip hop. He performs with his own band around Seattle with both saxophone and clarinet, mixing up instruments and genres in non traditional ways.

Jeremy M

Jeremy M - Jeremy is a voice, piano, guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele instructor. After studying Sonic Arts & Music Production at Portland State University, he made it his mission to share his wide array of knowledge with everyone who wants to learn! Singing and playing in ensembles, musicals, recording studios, a capella groups, and solo performances, as well as songwriting and arranging, has honed Jeremy’s expertise across his many instruments. He happily connects with students of all ages and backgrounds!

Josh H

Josh H - Hailing from the Midwest, Josh studied music and literature at Indiana University. As a teenager, he first started on electric bass before soon adding piano and guitar to his repertoire through formal studies, and then going on to play in bands and musicals. His background in English gives him the communication skills necessary to explicate high-level theory topics, as well as subjects of musical history, to his students.

Kaylee R

Kaylee R - Kaylee is a recent graduate of Northwest University with a degree in music production, and teaches piano and voice. She grew up taking piano lessons from a young age and later found her passion for singing in choirs, musical theater, vocal jazz, and worship teams. In addition to her classical training, she learned music production and recording engineering as a part of Northwest University’s Contemporary Music Industry degree, where she was able to spend lots of time in the studio. Some other fun skills she learned include music theory, sound design, orchestral and choral conducting, and arranging and composing orchestral music! One of her biggest dreams is to compose film soundtracks, and she could spend hours nerding out about her favorite ones! Currently, Kaylee does a bit of freelance music production, works as a music director for musical theater productions, and sings with Kirkland Choral Society.

Randy S

Randy S - Randy is a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, strings, saxophone, and voice) whose lifelong love of music has culminated in his current pursuit of a degree in Music Education. Many of his favorite memories throughout life have been music related and it has shaped him into the person he is today. His greatest musical influences stem from jazz, funk, and blues music - the passion for which grew from his time with the jazz band in middle school. From the classical music background throughout his years in school to his time with the jazz band and continuing with his current studies, he has become a well-rounded musician with an appreciation of all genres

Tim J

Tim J - Tim, or “Mr. J” as some of his past students call him, is all about drums and percussion! Originally from the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN, Tim started playing at 3 years of age before commencing formal training in elementary school and continuing through programs within the University of WI system. Before recently relocating to the Seattle area, he spent the past 25+ years as percussion coordinator for multiple middle schools in Austin, TX, where his students consistently earned positions in district, region, and all-state ensembles of all types, as well as first division ratings in regard to solo and ensemble performances. He has had a long and successful career as a professional recording and touring musician in wide variety of musical styles and ensembles, including some signed to record labels. Tim believes structure, discipline, patience and being methodical with practice methods will yield the most desirable results for students. Teaching these skills with humor and uplifting engagement is hallmark of his teaching style. He strives to be a positive role model and mentor to all of his students, not only in teaching music but, also in positive life lessons - hoping that his influence will produce not only better musicians but better human beings, as well.
